Where is Colombo airport?

Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB) is in Katunayake, north of Colombo city. Sri Lanka Tourism identifies it as the country’s main international airport. You may also see it called BIA or Katunayake airport.

Check for CMB on your flight ticket before selecting a transfer. For a city hotel, enter the full address: choosing “Colombo” alone does not identify your final drop-off point.

Pearl Taxi is an independent taxi and private-transfer service, not the airport operator or its official taxi counter. For flight information and airport services, use the official Bandaranaike airport website.

Booking your Bandaranaike airport pickup or drop-off

Choose airport pickup for an arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport (CMB). Enter your flight number, pickup date and time, destination address, passenger count and a reachable contact number. Meeting details are agreed when the team confirms your request.

For an airport departure, choose airport drop-off and enter your exact starting address. Allow time for road conditions and your airline’s check-in requirements; the map’s travel time is a planning estimate.

Before travelling: send your flight number, local pickup date and time, hotel address and contact details. Include luggage and child-seat requests in the notes so the team can check suitability.
Before leaving arrivals: complete immigration, baggage collection and customs, then follow the meeting instructions agreed with the team. Keep the confirmation and contact number accessible.
If plans change: contact us about delays or a different arrival date before relying on the original pickup arrangements. Waiting arrangements must be agreed with the team.

Colombo International Airport taxi guides for every destination

Choose the destination where you will stay or meet your host. Each guide covers airport pickup, the final road or property entrance, luggage planning and fixed-price booking in both directions.

Getting from the airport to Colombo: your options

Choose around your arrival time, luggage and where you need to finish the journey. The airport operator lists public transport and airport taxi services in its official transport guide; check it for current arrangements.

Pre-booked private transfer

Send Pearl Taxi your exact destination and vehicle requirements before travelling. Your request shows a fixed route price, and the team confirms availability and meeting details. This lets you plan the journey to your hotel rather than only to a transport interchange.

Airport taxi counter

The airport operator lists a taxi service at the arrivals area. Ask that service directly about its current fare and pickup arrangements. Its prices and conditions are separate from Pearl Taxi bookings.

Public transport

The operator also lists bus connections to Colombo. Before choosing one, check operating hours, the stop and luggage arrangements, and plan how to get from the arrival stop to your accommodation. Timetables and fares can change, so this guide does not promise a particular departure or price.

Colombo airport transfer questions

Need help with a specific flight or a larger group? Contact Pearl Taxi before sending the request. Learn how our local transport service works.

Is Colombo Airport the same as Bandaranaike International Airport?

For flights using code CMB, yes. Colombo Airport and Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport refer to Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake, also known as BIA. Select that airport for your pickup and check CMB on your ticket before requesting a transfer. A Colombo city address is not the airport pickup location.

How much is a Colombo airport taxi?

The price depends on your exact pickup, destination, any intermediate stops and the selected Mini, Car or Van. Enter these details in the booking form to see the fixed trip price in LKR and USD. There is no single fare for every Colombo hotel. A changed journey requires a newly agreed fixed price.

How long does it take from Colombo airport to my hotel?

Use your exact hotel address in the booking map for a route-specific travel-time estimate. Traffic, weather and stops can change the drive time. For an arrival, allow additional time for immigration and baggage; for a departure, plan around your airline’s check-in requirements.

Where will I meet my driver, and what if my flight is delayed?

The team agrees the meeting point and contact details when confirming your request. Include your flight number and a reachable mobile or WhatsApp number. If the flight or arrival time changes, contact Pearl Taxi to reconfirm pickup. Do not assume an unconfirmed request guarantees a waiting driver.

Can I request a late-night airport transfer?

Yes. You can send a request for a day or night pickup. Enter the local pickup date and time carefully, especially for arrivals just after midnight. Vehicle availability and meeting arrangements are confirmed personally.

Can I pay for my airport transfer by cash or card?

Cash, Visa, Mastercard and American Express are accepted. The team agrees payment timing and method when confirming the journey. No payment or card details are taken in the booking request form.
